Pardon des Mariniers et Plaisanciers
Saint Jean-de-Losnes is a town perfectly situated at the junction of the Saône river and the inland waterways of the Burgundy canal and the Rhone/Rhine canal which attracts boating enthusiasts.
The town is the smallest in square metres in France with 36 hectares of land and 20 hectares of water, however, following a history of a trade centre for the salt mines at nearby Salins les Bains Saint Jean-de-Losne is now a bargees town turning toward tourism
With mooring for 300 to 400 boats complete with access to water and electricity, chandlers, drydocks with cranes and shops for all necessities, Saint Jean -de-Losnes is a popular destination for inland boating activities for tourists, whether in cabin cruisers, narrow boats, yachts or hotel boats. Nautical activities include diving, water skiing, canoeing and fishing.
Supported by the Conseil Régional, and the Conseil Général Saint Jean -de-Losne promotes the trades and traditions connected with the water by organising the annual celebration of le Pardon des Mariniers et Plaisanciers.
The celebration involves the blessing of the boats in a religious ceremony, this is followed by cruises on the river, entertainment for all age groups and the chance to visit the beautiful town.

But you don't have to have a boat to enjoy Saint Jean-de-Losne as the area is beautiful with access to hiking, cycling and horse riding.
