The journée is initiated and supported at national level by les Architectes du Patrimoine, CAPEB, FNASSEM, FNOTSI, Les Maisons Paysannes de France, Notre Village et Bénéficie du Soutien de Ministère de l'Agriculture et de la Peche and Le Ministère de l'Écologie et du Développement Durable.

An associated event, initiated by FFAM, is mills day when visitors can discover the working and usage of various types of mills.

Streets and byways is part of the 10th anniversary of the journée du patrimoine de pays. This covers transportation routes that have been used over the centuries, streets with a diversity of uses, trade routes, tow paths and trade, pilgrimage and processional routes, farm tracks and forest roads related to agricultural industry.

Patrimony also covers the streets of the towns and cities; buildings, frontages, doors and signs as well as objects to be found in the countryside, mills, fountains, wells, crosses, vaults, obelisks, refuges, inns, hedges and dry stone walls.

There is so much to discover and although the day is dedicated to the celebration of France's patrimony these places are there all year round ready for you to investigate and enjoy.
