Celebrating Europe
Following the success of the English Christmas, the MJC and British residents in the canton of Venarey les Laumes (21) a team of 8 French and 11 British residents are now planning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the signing of the treaties of Rome
The 10th to 20th March is ‘la Journée Internationale de la Francophonie’ when celebrations take place around the world to promote the speaking of the French language and the animateurs de la MJC (Maison des Jeunes et de la Culture) are arranging events to publise la Journée.
The Treaties of Rome was signed 25 March 1957 and as the anniversary closely follows ’La Journée Internationale de la Francophonie’ the team hope to engage people of other nationalities within the European Union in an event like a fête with stands manned by a mixture of nationalities to promote the EU and the individual countries. The
team are eager to ensure the residents of all nationalities work together in making the celebrations a success and it is supported by the maire Patrick Molinoz.
